join the rover crew
Minimum age for membership is 18 years old.
It is a requirement that you are able to make the Rover Scout Promise as below:
" I ............... promise that on my honor I will do my best,to do my duty to God and to the Queen,to help other people at all times,and to obey the Scout Law."
Members should bear in mind that the BBS/BGS is an organisation based on Christian values. Members must hold a valid CRB Disclosure (can be with another Assosiation) or be willing to complete one.
How often, and where will we meet?
The formal meeting of the Crew will take place once a month. All members will receive a summons and agenda at least two weeks prior to the meeting.
Meetings will be staggered between two venues. Mainly Newburgh in Lancashire, and Read in Lancashire.
The crew is first and foremost to provide service to the British Boy Scout / British Girl Scout Association and it's youth members. Members will in additional to monthly meetings be invited to assist on camps, community service events and fundraising activities.
What will it Cost?
Crew Fees - £3.50 per month to cover room hire. Each meeting will also have a small optional fundraising raffle £1 a ticket.
Foreign members or members who are too far away to travel to meetings will be expected just to place an annual donation to assist with administration and badge fees.
National Membership fee - £20 (please note if you are already a Scouter in the BBS and pay through your group this fee should be disregarded).
Is their a Uniform that I will be expected to wear?
You will be expected to wear the BBS / BGS uniform as listed below. You will need your uniform for when you are invested as a squire. This will usually take a few months so nicely allows you to spread the cost.
All items to be ordered through your rover Crew total cost is approximately £130. (As I say this can be spread over a number of months). 2nd hand uniform may be available on request.

Crew Neckerchief (this will be provided).
Whistle lanyard (this will be provided).
Thumb stick (this will be provided).
Scout Shirt
Green epaulettes (these will be provided)
Rover Scout Shoulder knot (this will be provided)
Blue Corduroy Scout Shorts or Blue Scout Skirt
Scout Belt
Blue knee length socks with two green stripes
Red Garter Tabs
Black Shoes
